Creating professional learning communities through partnerships

world_map_with_exporting_countries.png

The Jyväskylä Educational Consortium offers its students and personnel a number of different ways to gain international experience. We cooperate with a wide network of partner institutions and companies, mainly in Europe, but also in Africa, India, Canada, China and Russia.

The partnerships are based on common interest in developing curricula, pedagogical methods, teachers’ new role and ICT skills, to name a few. In vocational colleges, the main focus lies now on sharing and developing the ECVET system to improve the students’ employment opportunities worldwide. The general upper secondary schools share student and staff mobilities within the partner network in order to strengthen intercultural communication and working skills.

Global Educational Partnerships

Annually, about 20 to 30 international mobility, development or partnership projects are carried out. Having widespread partnership networks in Finland and internationally, ensures flexible and reliable customer-needs-based service delivery. We are continuously open to new contacts and partnerships. See the references of the projects at different levels of operation around the world.

Mobility and Work placements abroad

On-the-job learning abroad for vocational students is a great way to learn foreign languages, explore cultures and get a wider perspective to vocational studies. We aim at applying international standards (EQF and ECVET) to facilitate lifelong learning and student mobility throughout the European Union. Our students can get a placement abroad through our extensive partner network. Before going abroad, our students have to attend a preparation course. Student exchange periods are arranged mainly through mobility programmes like Erasmus+.

Staff mobility

The members of our personnel are encouraged to participate in international conferences, development seminars as well as language courses and job-shadowing. By going abroad our teachers can get hands on experience in the international world of work. Staff mobility periods are arranged mainly through mobility programmes like Erasmus+. We also use own funds for the purpose.

Development and mobility projects

The Jyväskylä Educational Consortium is experienced in implementing different types of development projects supported financially through EU programmes. The projects have helped develop curriculums, teaching methods and materials, education products, and the pedagogic skills of our teachers and trainers. The Jyväskylä Educational Consortium has also participated in the development of vocational education systems in Europe and Asia.We constantly seek new partners to work with us in international mobility and development projects. Internationalisation at home

Finland’s increasingly multicultural society and active student and staff exchange activities provide many possibilities to gain international experience. Our students can study foreign languages and cultures, tutor foreign exchange students or complete on-the-job learning periods in an international company in Finland.
