Jämsä College is a multidisciplinary vocational institute that provides education for more than 1500 students, both young and adult learners. The College is an important partner for the enterprises and organisations in the Jämsä Region and internationally active, especially in the field of forestry. The College also provides vocational education and training for athletes. The Jämsä College is part of the Jyväskylä Educational Consortium.
It is located between the Cities of Tampere and Jyväskylä ca. 250 km north from Helsinki with good public transportation (train, bus) connections. The distance from Jyväskylä is ca. 60 km south.
Vocational and further qualifications for both young and adult students is provided in Finnish. Additionally, vocational qualifications can be acquired in the form of apprenticeship training. The annual number of students is ca. 1200 and members of staff ca. 200.
The international cooperation between Jämsä College and its partner institutions, e.g. in Estonia, Belgium, Spain and France is aimed at enhancing student and staff mobility. The students are encouraged to complete their on-the-job training (work placement) periods abroad and students from the partner institutions are warmly welcome to follow the daily routines of Finnish students.
